What is the Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction program?
The MBSR program was originally developed by Jon Kabat Zinn at the world-famous Stress Reduction Clinic more than 30 years ago. The program was developed for stress-related suffering. It incorporated the beneficial MindBody effects of Eastern traditions thousands of years old, like meditation and yoga, in a western and secular frame, without its religious background.
Since then, more than 20,000 people have participitated in the 8-week MBSR course at the Center for Mindfulness at UMass. And even more worldwide.
MBSR plays a leading role in Mind-Body and Integrative Medicine. Its effectiveness has been established in a wide variety of contexts in a high number of studies. MBSR is evidence-based.
